The Beatties Ford Road Library would like to wish everyone a happy and safe holiday!

The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library System will be closed Christmas Eve (12/24) and Christmas Day (12/25).

Also, remember the Kwanzaa celebration at Freedom Library to appreciate the principle "Nia." Based on the idea of community, this is a great way to share in the sentiments of the season.

Charlotte Mecklenburg Library is 5 Stars!

The Charlotte Mecklenburg Library and Beatties Ford Road Library have once again been designated a “Five-Star” library. This is a due in large part to the support and patronage we receive from you, the people of our community. Thanks! Wondering what a Five-Star Library is? It’s the highest possible rating given out by the Library Journal, and it’s similar to the Michelin and Mobile guides used for restaurants and hotels. They’ve actually given it to us twice: first in February 2009, then again in November 2009.

You can read more on our website.

Come on in to the Beatties Ford Road Library or visit our website at www.cmlibrary.org to find out what’s going on at the Library. Not only can you help us celebrate our five stars, but your very presence can help us keep our Five-Star designation in the future! How’s that, you ask? The Library Journal Index is based equally on four things: visits, circulation, program attendance, and public Internet computer use.

OPEN with changes!

The Beatties Ford Road Branch has reopened with our slightly different hours and some changes to the collection.

-Wednesday and Thursday we are open 10AM-7PM.
-Friday and Saturday we are open 9AM-6PM.
-Closed Sunday, Monday and Tuesday.

We still have books to be checked out; however our collection is slightly smaller and you cannot request that books from other branches be sent to our location for pick-up.

The computer lab is still up and running!

Frommer's Library Display Contest

How do you travel with Frommer's? That's the question asked as libraries from across the country put their marketing talents to the test. And since Beatties Ford Road Library can hang with the best of them, we decided to answer the question with a display of our own. A map of the world serves as the backdrop of the display created by BFR staffers; Teresa Clay, Elisha Minter and Malcolm Plummer. The display is draped with all the essentials needed for a good trip. There's the dressed to impress tourist who's ready to assimilate into other cultures. And with the plethora of disposable cameras and Frommer's tour books, she's ready to go. Check out our display at Picasa.
